How to Order

What are Tremcards?
If you transport paints, chemicals or any other hazardous materials, it is the law throughout Europe that you must have a Transport Emergency Card - or Tremcard - in the vehicle.

Each Tremcard contains information that ensures the driver knows exactly what he or she is carrying, including the nature of the risk presented by the goods being carried. Crucially, they also carry instructions on how to respond to an emergency, such as a spillage or fire. This information is also essential for the emergency services in the event of an accident.

This information must be in all the languages of any countries through which the cargo will travel. For a list of recommended languages for each destination country, click here.

The requirement for Tremcards is stipulated in the European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (otherwise known as ADR)

Whether you drive an HGV or a white van, if you are carrying hazardous material, you need a Tremcard. Failure to carry a Tremcard can result in a fine or a prohibition notice.

Cefic Tremcards
There are several types of Tremcards, but the ones licensed by Cefic - the European Chemical Industry Council - are the industry-leading solution. They are the only ones approved by a European industry trade body. A single format, validated by the pan-European organisation, saves a lot of hassle for companies transporting hazardous goods.

With their distinctive red bands, Cefic Tremcards have the advantage of being readily recognisable throughout Europe. They are recognised and accepted by international transport organisations and by customs officials at national borders. Therefore a Cefic Tremcard reduces the likelihood of delays when crossing borders.

Cefic strongly promotes the use of its Tremcards and works hard to keep them accurate and relevant. Cefic's process of continuous improvement reflects changes in legislation and feedback from the Chemical Distribution Industry. Cefic also contributes to the revision of the ADR regulations as members of Working Party 15. So you can be confident that Tremcards are fully compliant with current legislation and industry best practice.
